A white-faced heron is painted in great detail, seen from the side standing on a rock, one leg slightly raised in an elegant pose. This small heron species is mostly a blue-grey colour, with a white face and long grey bill, contrasted by a light yellow eye and long yellow legs. This bird is focused and ready to strike the water for his next meal of fish. The background is a loose watercolour splash of blue, suggesting a wetland. Artwork by Nadya Neklioudova.

Blue Dream

Artwork Description

I saw this lovely, elegant heron standing at the water's edge at the Buddhist Temple wetland sanctuary in Brisbane. A sense of balance and tranquility inspired this painting. The detailed painting of the Heron, balancing on one leg, is complimented by an abstract blue background wash - just a suggestion of its environment (and a new direction for my art), The cool blues and greys play against the warm yellow of the bird's legs, and slight hints of yellow tones on his head - striking a balance of colours. "Blue Dream" is framed and ready for its new home. It has a grey matt and a fantastic double frame - flat black inner frame, and brushed silver curved outer frame. Very elegant and modern framing, which compliments the artwork perfectly.
